Helix

The helix piercing is also called cartilage piercing. Every piercing located in the upper cartilage of your ear is called helix. The classic helix however is located in the outer ear.

Pain:

4/10

Healing Time:

6-12 months, this varies from person to person.

Jewellery:

Labret 6mm or 8mm, if your ear is swollen a 10mm labret would also be helpful.

Hoops 8mm – 11mm for a more loose look or huggies 5mm-7mm.

After Care:

Taking care of your freshly pierced ear is the most important thing in the entire process. Listen carefully to your piercer’s instructions and follow them all.

In general, avoid touching your piercing or moving the jewellery, this can allow bacteria to enter your wound and can cause irritation or infection.

Using a saline or antiseptic solution (e.g. Octonisept) to clean your piercing twice a day until your piercing is fully healed.

Use your hair up for the first week and be extra careful when dressing to avoid snagging your jewellery.

For 2-3 weeks avoid swimming in lakes, pools or hot tubs.
